The Bruner Brothers light up the Baked Potato North Hollywood.

Drummer Ronald Bruner Jr. and brother, bassist Steven Bruner Performed Wednesday August 13, 2008 with their new band, also a special guest appearence from the one and only George Duke. The band features Charles Alturra on guitar and Russel Serota on Keyboards. These guys represent the next generation of contemperory Jazz fusion artists, genuine barrers of the torch, they are also contributors to many types of music on the scene today. I've had the priviledge of knowing both Ronald and Steven Bruner since they were 10 and twelve years old respectivly. I met Ron Jr., Steven and their parents at Namm 12 years ago where I interviewed the brothers for my then Jazz Night Flight radio program in Los Angeles. I later enlisted Ron Jr. to play with Adrian and I, one of which performances included A lifetime achievment award presentation for Alice Coltrane at the Vision Theater in Leimert Park Los Angeles. Adrian and I have also done more recent work Steven who is always a pleasure to work with. Steven is a great listener, willing to take chances musically. In addition he's quite a humble guy. Steven is clearly conscious of the fact that it's not just about being a great musician but also being just as cool a person. I look forward to the release of the Bruner Brothers up coming CD and wouldn't be surprised to hear them being chosen to be the opening act on perhaps the Return To Forever Reunion Tour. Its long overdue and time for the stage to be made available to the next generation of great artists who will be the successors of great bands of yesterday like Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Return to Forever. These guys are an amazing band, definately on top of their game, reaching out to take hold of the torch which will move the music forward for the next generation of young aspiring artists. The Bruner Brother are a must see band IMHO.
